The ability to access and share student information via the internet and social media is very good. Information about hoax content is also very massive by the government and anti hoax activists. However, hoax information and news during Covid-19 was very much and made the public fear. This research tries to find out why there are still many hoaxes. This study uses quantitative methods using linear regression analysis. The theory used is the elaboration likelihood model. The sample in this study was 317 students of SMA / SMK / MA in Tegal Regency using cluster sampling. The results showed that there was an effect of students 'internet useability (X1) and hoax content socialization (X2) together on students' behavior in receiving information (Y) of 37.8%. This study has new findings where students do not know how to report hoax news and information. They automatically do not report if they receive information and news that are indicated as hoaxes. Another factor that causes students not to report is the lack of motivation, namely in the form of rewards. The government needs to make it easier for access to report news and information that are indicated as hoaxes. Besides, providing rewards for whistleblowers is an important thing and has not been done so far. The sooner someone reports, the hoax information and news can be handled quickly and not spread to the wider community.
