Abstract

This article discusses the development of themes that exist in historical works or historiography in the Islamic world (Islamic historiography). The development of themes in Islamic historiography can be seen based on developments from classical to modern times by looking at the diversity of forms, contents, and styles. This article was written with a qualitative descriptive approach supported by data collection methods using literature studies. From the results of the study, it is known that even though they come from the same source (al-Qur'an and hadith), there are various themes in Islamic historiography. In its initial development, there was a tendency for a strong political theme in Islamic historiography. However, this tendency eventually received criticism and gave rise to various other themes in accordance with the development of the era of Islamic historiography writing.
